Dave Powell
Dave Powell

The Powell family moved from the Philadelphia area to Northfield, MA in the mid- 30’s to live with Dave’s grandparents, the daughter and son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. Dwight L. Moody. Dave attended the local grammar schools before entering Mt. Hermon’s class of 1948. Next came Yale in the class of 1952. Dave enlisted in the U. S. Air Force in June of 1952 and served during and after the Korean War for 4 + years. His communication experience in the military led him to a civilian career in the Bell System.

Dave became very interested in preserving the Moody Legacy when the Northfield campus was closed in 2005. He formed a Moody Archival Digitization Partnership (MADP) with the Northfield Mt Hermon School, Yale Divinity School, Wheaton College and Moody descendants to collect textual, visual, audio and material archives to be used by scholars and students for research, as well as the thousands of people around the world who have been influenced by D. L. Moody’s influence. The digitization of original Moody correspondence has been the start of this huge project.

Dave Powell passed away in 2022. We are grateful for his life and the many contributions he made to the Kingdom of God and the community of Northfield, MA.
