Woody White

Edward Lee White, Jr., has been with the Cecil Day Family of Atlanta, Georgia since 1976.    He is currently President of the Cecil B. Day Foundation, a position he has held for forty-four years.  Additionally, he also serves as Senior Vice President of the Cecil B. Day Investment Companyfor the family.  Prior to his coming to work for Mr. Cecil Day, he was Business Administrator for Encounter Ministries (Dr. Stephen Olford) in Florida.  Previously, he had been employed with the Kiawah Development Company in Charleston, South Carolina, and Merrill Lynch Corporate Headquarters in New York City.

As President of the Cecil B. Day Foundation, he has had the privilege of traveling across the six New England (NE) states, encouraging, and supporting what God has been doing in His churches for the Gospel of Jesus Christ. The vision of Cecil Day to see churches strengthened to evangelize and disciple people to follow Jesus Christ is at the heart of the Foundation’s guidelines. In fulfillment, Woody has had the privilege of traveling over 300,000 miles in NE, visiting over 12,000 churches and ministries, and encountering over 18,000 pastors and church leaders.  From that vantage point, it has been remarkable to witness how God is transforming theregion for Christ.

Besides being a Director for the Moody Center in Northfield, MA, Mr. White currently serves as Chairman of the Fox Theatre (Atlanta) Board of Directors.  He has previously served on the Boards of Pace Academy, Atlanta Host, Quest Atlanta ’96, Scripture Union, Lord’s Day Alliance, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Youth for Christ, Goodwill Industries, Haggai Institute, Southeastern Council on Foundations, and is a past member of Leadership Atlanta and Leadership Georgia.

In October 1996, Mr. White was selected by the Religious Heritage of America to receive the 1996 Churchman of the Year Award.  Each year this award is presented to a layman active within their church who applies religious principles in their daily life.

He is a graduate of Virginia Tech with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (1966)and received his MBA from the Darden School at the University of Virginia (1971).  He served as a Line Officer in the United States Navy from 1966-1972.

Mr. White is married to the former Virginia Farris of Dublin, Virginia. They have two daughters, Christen White Reese, and Moriah White.  They are members of The Church of the Apostles in Atlanta where they are actively engaged in ministry and service.
